Both Sadiq Khan and David Lammy have committed to divest the £4.8bn London Pensions Fund Authority of fossil fuels, if elected Mayor.
After meeting with Divest London, both candidates announced divestment commitments in the same week. Following David Lammy’s call in the Evening Standard, Sadiq Khan followed suit in The Guardian last Thursday, as well as committing to divestment in an interview with Owen Jones.
We applaud both candidates for their foresight on this issue, recognising the financial, ethical and environmental risks associated with stranded fossil fuel assets. Please do join us in tweeting them our support!
